Birding Alaska's Rainforest

At Icy Strait Birding Tours, we are focused on providing a quality Alaskan birding experience specifically for cruise visitors. Our 3.5-hour excursions are arranged to be able to see the maximum number of bird species in the area, while still being short enough to allow visitors enough time to explore the other attractions that Icy Strait Point and Hoonah offer while their ship is in port. As an added bonus, a portion of the proceeds from each tour sale will be donated to the local Audubon chapter.

Come experience the unique bird life of Southeast Alaska, and help fund local conservation initiatives at the same time!

Your Guide

Owner and guide, Amy Courtney, was raised in the bush near the village of Hoonah, in the heart of Southeast Alaska. She has been fascinated by the local birds (Varied Thrush is a particular favorite) for as long as she can remember, and enjoys sharing her slice of paradise and the birds in it with people from all over the world. She served as a Juneau Audubon Society board member for five years, and currently volunteers as an EMT and school board member in her hometown of Hoonah. Amy and her husband, Thomas, have three young children who love bugs, birds, plants, and getting muddy.
